Nutritional Counseling

When people in Portsmouth think of chiropractic care, they tend to think of having their spine and neck adjusted. While Dr. Mariya Thunman, DC performs these types of services all the time at her practice, we also focus on full-body wellness. One of the essential components of full-body wellness is your diet. At King's Grant Chiropractic, we offer nutritional counseling to help our patients achieve their health and wellness goals.

Why do I Need Nutritional Counseling?

Nutrition counseling is a lot more than just dieting advice. While weight loss can be part of a nutritional counseling appointment, these sessions can also cover topics such as injury or illness recovery, specialty diets, and ensuring adequate vitamins and nutrients. Rather than giving everyone the same advice, a nutritional counseling appointment will help our chiropractor develop a specialized plan that takes your personal dietary restrictions, allergies, physical health, and wellness goals into consideration.

What Is a Nutritional Counseling Session Like?

A typical session will start by identifying the patient's goals. This may include wanting more energy, losing fat, developing muscle, recovering from an illness or injury, or a combination of several of these goals. Next, our chiropractor will identify any food restrictions, such as allergies, taste aversions, or other issues. For example, people recovering from severe illness may put limits on certain foods that they cannot digest easily. Finally, a sample diet plan will be developed that considers the patient's lifestyle. This can include sample menus, lists of recommended foods, nutritional supplement recommendations, and recipes for healthy meals. Subsequent appointments will review how well you are able to stick to the plan and make adjustments.
